Server Pricing Report – April 2022
Welcome to the fourth installment of our monthly server price reporting for 2022.
For two years now, we have been tracking changing parts prices for RAM, SSDs, Hard Drives, and various CPUs. Typically this is done monthly, and then shared on our blog.
Currently, all listed prices are from eBay, for used hardware. I may start tracking more new hardware as well if there is a demand for it.
Prices as of April 5th, 2022
↑ or ↓ indicates if the price has gone up or down since last month
USD Low — The lowest price to buy this part from a reputable seller in a moderate quantity, price as shipped to the US
USD High — There is a reasonably large quantity of this part available from multiple reputable sellers for this price or lower, price as shipped to the US

Some noteworthy changes from last month:
- For the fourth month in a row we have been unable to locate quality listings for the 1.6TB Intel P3605 NVMe (U.2) SSD. Due to the extended unavailability we will not be including updates for this drive. If listings for this part return, then we’ll update you at that time!
- The Xeon Platinum 8168 is showing very limited availability, however the price for this CPU has also dropped. The highest price has dropped by almost $2000!
- We observed shortages in the 32GB DDR4 Ram Types of 2400T and 2666V. The 2400T price remains low, however the lowest price point has raised. Alternatively, the 2666V price has dropped!
- Last month we found that the listings for 32GB 12800L RAM was critically low. This trend continues to this month with very few good quality listings. The record low price point has also continue to this month
- Additionally a few drives are showing shortages of listings this month. Those drives are the 3.84TB NVMe SSD, 1.6TB NVME HHHL SSD, and the 1.6TB Sata SSD.
- A few parts are gaining new listings at prices higher than the previous month. Those parts are the 1.6TB NVMe HHHL SSD, 480GB SSD, and the 1.6TB SAS HGST SSD. We also observed price raises for the 16GB DDR4 2133P RAM and the E5-2680v2 CPUs. The price rise is a bit misleading however as these parts still have numerous listings with reasonable prices.
- April has brought many more dips in pricing than raises. Notably, almost all CPUs are being offered at prices cheaper than we’ve seen all year. Those CPUs are the 2699v4, 2690v4, 2697v2, and both Xeon Platinum CPU types. Additionally, there have been noticeable price drops for the 16GB DDR3 10600R RAM
