Server Pricing Report – July 2022
Welcome to the seventh installment of our monthly server price reporting for 2022.
Since 2019, we have been tracking changing parts prices for RAM, SSDs, Hard Drives, and various CPUs. This data is collected monthly, and then shared on this blog.
Currently, all listed prices are from eBay, for used hardware. We focus on used hardware because these prices change more frequently and this gives a better feel for changes in value.
Prices as of July 2nd, 2022
↑ or ↓ indicates if the price has gone up or down since last month
Price — The lowest price to buy this part from a reputable seller in a moderate quantity, price as shipped to the US
Availability — 6 or Fewer ebay listings = low
7-19 ebay listings = moderate
20+ ebay listings = high

We have recently began showcasing graphs with a 12-month timeframe for different types of items. Going forward, we think this will be a better visual representation of price fluctuations and will hopefully help identify pricing trends on the aftermarket.
This month we would like to highlight the 12-month graph for SAS and NVME SSDs:
- Currently we are tracking a handful of Non-SATA SSDs, and we are paying attention to only two sizes, 1.6TB and 3.84TB
- We first started tracking these drives during a time when crypto mining was at a peak. Since then the cost has fluctuated numerous times.
- The 1.6TB Intel P3605 (U.2) drive had been out of stock continuously since we began tracking them. Any listing for the drive did not stay available for long and as such we were unable to get actual prices for them. Recently, however, they have appeared back in stock at a record low price!
- New low pricing can be observed for all types of the drives, and the current trends may result in these low prices becoming the new standard.
- This observation can already be observed for the 1.6TB Intel P3605 (add-in) drive. It was the first to receive price drops, and as such has been a go-to NVMe drive for us when provisioning servers.
- The drive is highly dependable when it comes to failure ratings, and the price is highly competitive when compared to other NVMe SSDs.
- In other news We have also begun tracking two new types of DDR4 RAM – 16GB and 32GB DDR4 3200AA
- We have started to utilize these DIMMs in our AMD servers. We find these RAM Types provide the best performance in these servers, allowing the CPUs to operate at full speed.
- We also started to track two new types of RAM, 8GB 2rx8 PC3L-10600E and 8gb 2Rx8 PC3L-12800E ECC REG. These types of ram are commonly used with Intel E3 V1/2/3 CPUs.
- We have some servers ourselves that utilize this ram type, along with E3-1230v1/2/3 CPUs
