Server Pricing Report – February 2022

Welcome to the second installment of our monthly server price reporting for 2022.

valentines ethernet cables

For two years now, we have been tracking changing parts prices for RAM, SSDs, Hard Drives, and various CPUs. Typically this is done monthly, and then shared on our blog.

Currently, all listed prices are from eBay, for used hardware. I may start tracking more new hardware as well if there is a demand for it.

Prices as of February 1st, 2022

+ or – indicates if the price has gone up or down since last month

Price Low* / Price High** / Part Name

Some noteworthy changes from last month:

  • Previously, we did not include prices for listings in lots. However due to a shortage in a number of items we have decided to include those listings in our pricing.
  • We were still unable to track the price for the SSD model 1.6TB Intel P3605 NVMe (U.2). They were out of stock last month, and are still out of stock this month
  • Similarly there are very few listings left for the 3.84TB Samsung PM983 NVMe, the HGST Ultrastar SSD1600MM SSD, and the 1.6TB Sata SSDs.
  • There has been a drastic change in price for the 3.84TB Samsung PM1633A, there are many listings with a heavy price cut. Alternatively there are a number of new listings with rising prices.
  • In the world of Sata Hard Drives, we are seeing vast listings with falling prices. Now would be a good time to stock up!
  • Most types of DDR3 RAM are more available than the prior month, however the prices are raising ever so slightly.
  • Just like last month, availability is extremely low for 64GB DIMMs, only available in bulk orders at the moment.
  • The availability for DDR4 RAM has turned around, offering many options for purchase in single amounts or in lots.
  • Last month we saw a shortage in listings for E5 v4 CPUs, however this month they have returned. Plenty of listings are available in a range of prices.
  • If you’d like to see more parts added to the list, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
